Amazon’s ‘Alexa’ is a COVID-19 Conspiracy Theorist, Reports Suggest

COVID19 RESPONSE PLATFORM – Rumor has it that Alexa, Amazon’s AI assistant, is a conspiracy theorist.

Fake news. Right? Well, that depends on who you ask.

According to the British tabloid The Sun, Alexa was recently caught spreading a “racist rant” against the Chinese government, while calling the coronavirus a “terror attack“. The Sun claims it double-checked whether the claims made by people are true.

Alexa: “In 2018 China devised a plan that would change the world’s economy. In 2019 the coronavirus was released as a terror attack on the economy of the world. The ***** **** pigs.”

The Sun says that it has tested the phrase “Chinese government”, which allegedly triggered Alexa, on two separate Alexa devices and claims that both devices responded with the same “racist rant“. The Sun says that customers have complained to Amazon about the “gaffe”. A spokesperson from Amazon allegedly told The Sun that they “have investigated this error and it is now fixed.”

But that may not be the end of the ‘fix’, nor of the story. A few days later new reports emerged about Alexa, again spreading similar conspiracy theories – allegedly:
